Foundation announces grant to help hospitals create palliative care programs

The Regence Foundation has announced its Sojourns Pathway philanthropic program to provide seriously ill patients with quality palliative care. Palliative care treats patients as a whole person, including pain management and discomfort, as well as providing support to their families and caregivers.

Through its Sojourns Pathway grants, the Regence Foundation will promote hospital and community-based palliative care services in three phases. The three phases include hospitals that need help planning a palliative care program, hospitals seeking to implement a plan for a palliative care program and hospitals looks to expand their palliative care program through partnerships with other community organizations. The Regence Foundation began accepting grant proposals on July 20.
