Minnesota developer fined $35k for asbestos violations

The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) has issued fines totaling $35,000 against 22 Limited Liability Corporation, a renovation and developer from Mankato, Minnesota, for five environmental violations concerning asbestos-containing materials. The MPCA said that, in January 2007, 22 LLC mishandled and improperly disposed of regulated materials that contained asbestos during the remodeling of a former middle school building. An emergency cleanup was conducted by a licensed asbestos abatement contractor to remove 5,000 cubic feet of debris. 22 LCC has until November 1 to pay the fine.
