New Hampshire town has 175 asbestos dump sites

An open house was held this week for residents of Nashua, New Hampshire to discuss plans to deal with 175 known asbestos dump sites in the town. The asbestos disposal sites include residential, commercial, and government-owned properties. The city and the state environmental agency teamed together to offer the open house to address citizens’ concerns and discuss property owners’ responsibilities, environment issues, health risks, and management and remediation. The U.S. EPA has provided a grant to the city to inventory and assess brownfields sites and to determine what level of remediation, if any, is required. For the full story, go to Nashua Telegraph.
