Municipal building to undergo asbestos removal in preparation for renovation
The Hartley Dodge Memorial municipal building in Madison, New Jersey is undergoing asbestos removal the next three months in preparation for a long-awaited $10 million renovation. The initial phase of the project includes the removal of asbestos insulation; demolition of certain interior mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems; installation of accessible elevators and ramps for the disabled; and system upgrades. The target date for the renovation completion is May 2010, to mark the historic building’s 75th anniversary. The renovations will be done according to standards for historical preservation.
