New Occupational Health and Safety strategy unveiled in Great Britain

The Health and Safety Executive in Great Britain has introduced a new strategy that will hopefully result in lower numbers of injuries and fatalities among that country’s workers, including 2,056 deaths in 2007 - 2008 due to mesothelioma, a cancer caused by exposure to asbestos. The strategy seeks to promote strong leadership that champions safe work as well as worker involvement in improving safety on the job. The role of managers in training workers and motivating workers to practice safety on the job will be an important component to the strategy, which is summarized in printed materials and a video.
