Mesothelioma victim wins compensation from chimney manufacturer

A British man with mesothelioma has entered into a substantial settlement with his former employer, a chimney manufacturer, for exposure to asbestos on the job. Graham Dancer, age 63, worked for Selkirk Flue Limited from 1969 until his diagnosis of mesothelioma in 2007. During the early years of his employment he worked in the company’s warehouse; later in his career he worked in the production department, where he applied asbestos insulation to pipes. He recalled the asbestos dust settling in a thick layer on his tool box, and remembers seeing it floating in the air. Soon after his mesothelioma diagnosis he contacted his union, which helped him secure legal counsel. The case settled out of court after 17 months.
