Asbestos charges brought against Illinois motel owner
The Illnois Attorney General has charged Mukesh Patel, owner of Kings Inn in Peru, Illinois, with asbestos violations during renovations last year. During the remodeling, it is alleged that asbestos was removed from the building by at least one unlicensed worker who did not have necessary protective gear. Because of these violations, the worker was exposed to asbestos, getting asbestos into his hair and on his clothing where it could be inhaled by him and others around him. The allegations also state that asbestos was illegally dumped in an outdoor trash can.
The charges are pending in La Salle County against Patel and the remodeling company, Riverview Group of Iowa.
