Jury pool identified for W.R. Grace criminal trial
Eighty prospective jurors have been identified to attorneys in the W.R. Grace criminal trial scheduled for next month. The trial will determine whether W.R. Grace and six of its former and current executives knew about the health risk that its asbestos-contaminated vermiculite ore created for both its miners and the residents of nearby Libby, Montana. Asbestos diseases—like mesothelioma, lung cancer and asbestosis—have devastated the small town of Libby.
The parties are now waiting for the federal judge to make decisions about what expert testimony and scientific evidence will be admissible at trial.
Before the trial begins, twelve jurors and several alternate jurors will be selected from the pool of eighty.
