Minnesota politician pledges to continue focus on mesothelioma in Iron Range
Minnesota State Representative Tom Rukavina, Democrat, of Virginia, Minnesota will be challenged for his seat for a second time by Republican Greg Knutson of Hoyt Lakes. Rukavina has served in the Minnesota House of Representatives since 1986. Rukavina assured his constituents in the Iron Range that one of his primary legislative goals is to continue his focus on the University of Minnesota study into the causes of mesothelioma. Iron Range former mine workers have been developing the asbestos-related cancer at rates well in excess of other state residents.
