Asbestos discovery at Sinclair Refinery in Rock Springs, Wyoming forces evacuation

Asbestos sealant recently uncovered amidst construction work at Sinclair Oil Refinery in Rock Springs, Wyoming required the evacuation of hundreds of workers. A construction crew performing demolition work on a heater at the plant discovered the asbestos. According to Carbon County emergency management coordinator Harold Newbrough, the refinery took the necessary precautions to contain the asbestos and the workers were decontaminated. OSHA representatives are at the refinery to ensure the asbestos is handled properly.
