Tucumcari, New Mexico receives federal grant to replace asbestos cement pipe in sewer system
U.S. Senator Pete Domenici has assisted the city of Tucumcari, New Mexico in receiving a $2.17 million federal loan and grant package for upgrades to its sewer system. Construction is scheduled to begin this year. The award includes a $533,000 loan and a $476,760 grant to remedy the city’s problems with a corroded asbestos cement pipe. The loan is for 40 years at 4.5 percent interest. The award will supplement a 2005 federal grant of $900,000 to Tucumcari for its wastewater system.
