The $17.1 million in upgrades included the price of gutting the theater to remove 30 tons of asbestos-laden plaster and to strip the ceiling and the walls down to the brick. The new venue includes mahogany paneling made from a single tree in Africa, three sleek new crystal chandeliers in the lobby, and a new orchestra pit.
