Minnesota Department of Transportation mistakenly dumps asbestos-containing waste on pastors’ property

The Minnesota Department of Transportation mistakenly dumped tons of construction waste, including asbestos-containing bridge pilings, onto private property owned by two Inver Grove Heights pastors. Before the couple’s home was built, the property was used as an informal dumping site for contaminated waste. A Dakota County assessment estimates that cleanup costs will be approximately $82,000. The couple has received $15,000 from the City of Inver Grove Heights, and the State of Minnesota is giving the couple an additional $67,000 in compensation to pay for the cleanup.
