Towanda, Pennsylvania officials have hired contractor to demolish three fire-damaged downtown buildings, beginning with asbestos removal

In the coming weeks, Lycoming Supply will begin the process of demolishing three buildings in downtown Towanda, Pennsylvania that were destroyed by a fire in March 2006. The first step will be to remove asbestos and other hazardous materials from the site, a process that must be completed before the actual demolition many begin. But before that can start, paperwork must be filed with the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection. The entire project, including reseeding the land, is required to be complete within six months.
