The Northwest Triangle Project is a plan to transform and rebuild the area around the York baseball stadium. The project intends to put up new townhouses and office buildings, but before that can happen, decades of industrial waste, including asbestos, lead and other chemicals must be cleaned from the soil. The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection has contributed $1 million toward the environmental clean up. Cleaning the ground will take about a year, and if it is completed on time, construction will begin on the new townhouses in early 2009.
