Three people charged with theft and conspiracy for illegally moving asbestos-filled dumpsters
Three people in Keyport, New Jersey have been charged with theft and conspiracy to commit theft because dumpsters weren’t where they were supposed to be when the owners came for them. After piling trash from his property into the dumpster, Richard Jones discovered that the hauler wouldn’t pick them up because asbestos waste was mixed in. He called a friend to help him dispose of the hazardous material. Now, officials don’t know where the asbestos waste was dumped. But the dumpsters weren’t at Jones’ home when the disposal company came looking for them. The dumpsters were found and returned to the owners, but the disposal company’s name had been painted over. If they are convicted, the men could be sentenced to as much as three years in prison, in addition to fines.
