India’s National Institute of Occupational Health is conducting a study of the health and environmental hazards caused by India’s continuing, pervasive use of chrysotile asbestos. Although the Indian Government’s Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers is paying the bulk of the study’s costs, the government reports that the Asbestos Cement Product Manufacturer Association will also contribute to the study “to ensure cooperation and involvement of the industry.”
