The British Lung Foundation held Action Mesothelioma Day on February 27, 2008, to raise awareness about the asbestos-related cancer. Cases of mesothelioma, which affects the lining of the lung or abdomen, are expected to peak in the U.K. in the next decade. The foundation seeks more and better rights for mesothelioma victims; asks the Cancer Tsar to make mesothelioma a national priority; urges vigorous enforcement of existing asbestos regulations; and calls upon employers to ensure a safe workplace.
