Posen Construction will clean up asbestos materials that it dumped on property near the site of a road-widening project that was finished in June. The asbestos materials were not discovered until late November. See related story on Mesothelioma News. The company agreed to clean up the site after meeting with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection and Lee County Utilities. Officials are checking whether other asbestos materials that Posen contracted with Lee County Utilities to dispose of has been handled properly and will decide after inspections whether enforcement action is warranted. County commissioners have just approved a new contract with Posen to handle another road-widening project.
