The Vista del Camino Community Center in Scottsdale, Arizona serves those on the brink of homelessness, but the center has operated out of a temporary building since Auguest 2006. The center’s home building has been closed for more than a year for asbestos removal and renovation of the facilities. After 32 years, the center underwent a $3 million renovation in which the building was largely gutted. Early next year, the center will begin serving its clients–providing food and clothing, rent and utilities assistance, job preparation, after school recreation and tutoring, and services for seniors–in a newly renovated, safer and more accessible building.
