Alimta appears to extend survival rates for patients with mesothelioma

Pharmaceutical manufacturer Eli Lily reported this week that, in two large studies, mesothelioma patients treated with Alimta had one-year survival rates over 50 percent. This data support the conclusion that Alimta is effective in extending the life of mesothelioma patients. Treatment with Alimta was beneficial as a first-line treatment (for patients who were not candidates for surgery) or as a second-line treatment. The results were presented at the 12th World Conference on Lung Cancer on Wednesday, September 5th, in Seoul, Korea.
