Milwaukee City Hall’s Common Council Chambers still tests positive for asbestos after officials reported all asbestos was removed

Asbestos removal must continue at Milwaukee City Hall. Although Wisconsin Department of Public Works officials reported earlier this week that the asbestos was gone, a state asbestos inspector, Mark Davis, found asbestos contamination in all ten samples he took last week from the Common Council Chambers. The contractor who was supposed to remove all the asbestos put a material on the ceiling that looks like moss. City officials thought it was ugly and planned to have workers remove it. Davis’s surprise inspection will prevent or at least delay any work on the chamber’s ceiling.
