Illegal asbestos removal costs Missouri hotel company $300,000 fine
A hotel management company has pleaded guilty to illegally removing asbestos from the Clarion Hotel located close to the Kansas City International Airport. Hotel workers and guests were exposed to asbestos during an improper asbestos removal project last year. Asbestos can cause mesothelioma, a rare cancer of the lining of the lung, and other diseases. Hulsing Hotels Missouri has paid $100,000 of the $300,000 fine thus far. If performed correctly, the asbestos removal project would have cost the company $35,000.
