Oswego, Illinois schools to undergo asbestos removal over the summer months

The Oswego School District will conclude a project this summer to remove asbestos floor tiles from older schools in the district. The one-month project begins June 25 and will affect Oswego High School, Eastview Elementary, Long Beach Elementary, and Thompson Junior High. The district’s newer school buildings do not have asbestos, according to the district’s director of construction services. Asbestos exposure can cause the cancer mesothelioma and other diseases.
