Onconase shows promise as treatment for mesothelioma, other cancers

Pre-clinical studies reported at the annual meeting of the American Association of Cancer Research on April 16, 2007 show that the chemotherapy drug Onconase significantly inhibits tumor growth in non-small cell lung cancer and breast cancer. Onconase is also subject to an ongoing Phase IIIb study in malignant mesothelioma, a form of cancer linked to asbestos exposure. The makers of the drug are hopeful that it will prove to be an effective treatment for these forms of cancer in the future
