EPA releases health and safety brochure for auto mechanics to prevent asbestos exposure

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has issued a new brochure providing health and safety information to automotive mechanics who risk exposure to asbestos-containing auto parts, such as brake and clutch components. Asbestos can cause the cancer mesothelioma and other diseases.

The brochure, titled “Current Best Practices for Preventing Asbestos Exposure Among Brake and Clutch Repair Workers” focuses on the importance of preventing asbestos fibers from escaping into the air during auto repairs. For more information, go to www.epa.gov.
