ADAO asks U.S. Senate to make the first week of April “National Asbestos Awareness Week”
The Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization (ADAO) on March 23, 2007 encouraged the U.S. Senate to pass Senate Resolution 108 to designate the first week of April as “National Asbestos Awareness Week.” Asbestos exposure is associated with malignant mesothelioma, a rare form of cancer affecting the lining of the lung, abdomen or heart, as well as other forms of cancers and other asbestos-related diseases.
The ADAO was founded in 2004 by asbestos victims and their families. The organization seeks to give those with asbestos-related diseases a united voice to help ensure their rights are fairly represented and protected, and to raise public awareness about the hazards of asbestos exposure.
