The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center and Siemens Medical Solutions are partnering to establish a preclinical research center that will aim to develop new, targeted biomarkers to aid in the treatment of cancer patients. It is hoped that such biomarkers may help detect cancers earlier, better visualize cancers, and provide more effective therapies custom-tailored for cancer patients.
The center is an expansion of M.D. Anderson’s and Siemen’s molecular imaging research collaboration. The new center, to be located at the M. D. Anderson campus in Houston, will perform preclinical testing of Siemens’ compounds and participate in Siemen’s clinical trials. Siemens is also providing research scientists and radiochemical equipment as part of the joint venture.
