Health Care Spending in the U.S. Expected to Nearly Double within a Decade

According to a report by the U.S. government’s Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, the cost of health care in the United States is expected to nearly double over the next decade, to $4.1 trillion by the year 2016. According to the report, published online in the journal Health Affairs, by 2016 health care will average $12,782 for every man, woman, and child in the U.S. Currently, the average health care cost in the U.S. is $7,498 per person. Further, it is anticipated that by 2016, government will pay close to half of the national health care�.
